Development Intern

By Maji Mazuri

As a Development Intern, you’ll support our Development Team administratively. You’ll have a hand in helping us manage our donor relations, research and special events.

Responsibilities:

Research prospective corporate, foundation and individual donors. Track and organize our traditional giving programs. Stay on top of cross-departmental communication about specific donors, donation issues, tax receipts and refunding donations. Handle general donor support, working closely with our Development team to make sure all communication with donors is stream-lined and consistent with our brand and mission.

Skills:

You’re a mover, a shaker, and an avid fundraiser.

You’re eager to learn. You’re inspired to change the world. You are compassionate and passionate about positive social change. You’re committed to Maji Mazuri’s mission of alleviating poverty by empowering people to bring about change in their own lives.

You’re articulate, direct and professional.

You’re more than capable of providing information concisely and effectively in writing or while speaking. You make sure you know the situation or data inside and out before sharing with donors.

You have the basics down pat.

You know how to best use Microsoft Word, Excel and online tools to multitask and stay on top of several projects simultaneously.

You have experience and education to back you up.

You’re an undergraduate student. You also have previous administrative work under your belt, preferably for a non-profit development team.

You’re independent yet flexible.

You achieve results with little supervision. You aspire to own projects while also following our staff’s critique and leadership.

Commitment:

We are looking for one intern to start ASAP. We’ll need you for 20 hours a week and in the office at least two days a week.

Compensation:

This is an unpaid internship but is an exceptional opportunity to gain development experience at an international non-profit with an ambitious mission. And we can work with your institution to give you academic credit for your experience. We’ll provide you professional development training through various workshops where available.
